Hoosier Riverwatch Training- Workshop FULL
Saturday, April 28, 9 am - 3:30 pm
Meadowbrook Conservation Center and Preserve
109 W. 700 North in Valparaiso, IN 46385
Join Nicole Messacar, Education Coordinator with the LaPorte County Soil and Water Conservation District, for a free workshop where you will learn about water quality and gain hands-on experience and skills to become a volunteer for Hoosier Riverwatch. By participating in Hoosier Riverwatch, citizens of Indiana can become active stewards of our water resources through watershed education, water monitoring, and clean-up activities.
You don't need a lot of free time or be an expert to become a volunteer. Water monitoring methods are easy to learn and can be performed by volunteers of all ages. Any interested adult is welcome to attend. Upon completion of this training, you will be certified to borrow testing supplies from a Hoosier Riverwatch loaner site like Shirley Heinze Land Trust to monitor streams and rivers near you.
Attendees should bring a sack lunch and dress for the weather, and bring waterproof footwear such as muck boots if you have them. We will be learning how to do water quality monitoring at the stream on-site.
