Become a Site Steward!!!!

We here at Shirley Heinze are looking for people who are interested in becoming site stewards at our preserves. A site steward is someone who spends a couple days a month visiting their selected preserve and making sure no illegal dumping, vandalism, littering, etc is being done. Since we manage more than 1000 acres it's hard for us to be everywhere all at once. We have properties in Lake, LaPorte and Porter counties. To learn more about how you can make a difference, email Jim Erdelac at volunteer@heinzetrust.org

Contact the office for details and directions.

You can also contact Jim Erdelac for volunteer work assignments that fit your schedule.  He can get you started on an independent project, or you may be able to work as part of the crew for a day.

Reach him at the office at (219) 879-4725 or by e-mail at volunteer@heinzetrust.org.

Your help is needed............Volunteer Opportunities Abound!

Notice a pattern with our Volunteer Workdays? In the coming year, we will always hold a workday on the second Friday and Saturday of the month. Maybe we'll even give it a catchy (or kitschy) name like "Second Saturday Stewards" or "Friday Phragmites Foes"…. Yeah, maybe not. Anyway, be sure to join us each month as we work to restore the variety of habitats you have helped us preserve.

Of course, we'll let you know about other special projects that come up, and we are always looking for volunteers who would like to "adopt" a preserve.
